Greener IT is a small family run information security business. We assist businesses in making the most of their IT Disposal. In particular, we ensure that data is sanitised using the various approved techniques so that hardware can be resold or given to charity.

The data can be sanitised using a method known as ‘overwriting’. Many erasure software options use a binary (ones and zeros) code to overwrite the existing data. This is often also referred to as ‘wiping’ or ‘shredding’ a file or disk. Formatting a disk does not make the information on the disk safe!

Currently there is lots of IT Disposal companies, but where we feel we differ is that each customer we have we know, and they know us and trust us to sanitise their IT equipment. We also provide documentation that shows exactly what has happened to assets entrusted to us. We provide a complete audit trail on exactly what happens to your redundant IT equipment and where possible, depending on the client we try to recycle as much of the IT components by reselling the intact components to prolong the life of other machines. As without spare parts a lot of machines would be prematurely recycled.
